Summer Security Step-Up

When the weather heats up so do the home burglaries. When it is super hot, we tend to make choices that don’t always keep us safe. We can even get a bit complacent in our home security. We may accidentally leave the doors and windows open as we hang out with our neighbors or eat dinner outside. We may be home, splashing in the pool, but leaving the door unlocked because we are technically home. Burglaries and break-ins don’t always have to happen when no-one is home. Sometimes you’re just in another room or area of the property. Read our latest blog for some helpful tips on keeping your property and people safe this summer.

Keep valuables out of site

When the weather is nice we like to open the windows and let the fresh air in. The open doors and windows provide an opportunity for people walking by, or snooping to see in and spot what is beyond the window or door. Don’t let this be a window-shopping opportunity. Keep your valuables out of sight. Avoid leaving phones, laptops, tablets, etc in clear view. When they are easily accessible, opportunistic burglaries can occur in a very quickly.

Doorbell Camera

Keep your family safe. Protect your deliveries. Manage visitors and guests from anywhere. You’ll see more, know more and do more from your front door. Doorbell cameras also allow you to record short clips and have a record of anyone that was at your door, so if they should not have been, you will have a record of it.

Close and lock the windows

It can be tempting to leave the windows open at night when we go to bed when the weather permits. Ground floor windows can provide an easy entry and exit point for uninvited visitors. Make sure you have good quality window locks installed and remember to lock when you aren’t home.

Just as with any time of year locking and securing your property is the first step to creating a barrier for burglars. In addition to these tips security alarms, cameras, and lighting can all play a part in helping to keep your home summer safe.
