Thankful Thursday

#ThankfulThursday

With the world the way that it is right now, we think it is important to remember and reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for. We try to always remember these things, but its easy to get lost in the chaos of our lives. Today, we have found ourselves in a situation that forces us to slow down. In this time, we wish to take a few minutes, a few breaths, and remember our gratefulness. We decided that we wanted to do a “Thankful Thursday” series of blog posts. We will be writing about something that we are thankful for every Thursday and we hope that it resonates with you.

To start off the series we want to take a moment to express our sincerest gratitude to the workers on the front lines of the fight against Covid 19. These unprecedented times have given us a brand-new perspective on “essential” workers. This pandemic has taken thousands of lives and livelihoods, but it has also given us a new set of “heroes” to be grateful for.

First, there are the health-care workers and the first responders. These are the heroes that go into life threatening situations, sometimes without the required protective gear. These doctors, nurses, and Police Officers, EMS and Firefighters work tirelessly to help save lives and restore health to those affected and they have often been the only physical contact for those victims in the last moments of their lives, since the virus is so contagious that family couldn’t be there. They’ve had to make life-altering choices on who would receive the required medical intervention, and who would be left to die without it. They’ve been on the receiving end of the anger and fear at the lack of information and testing abilities, and yet they forge on. The physical and emotional toll that these “essential employees” have endured will not be fully realized for months or years to come. So, we take this moment to offer our most heartfelt thanks!

And what about the new class of “heroes”? Some unsung heroes that we are seeing in these crazy times are the grocery store workers and stockers that have had to learn an entirely new way to do their jobs. They face the uncertainty and changing policies every day to help keep the food and supplies we need available to us.   The teachers and parents that are working tirelessly to continue educating children that have been uprooted, and let’s not forget about the students learning in a brand-new way that they’ve never dreamed of.  Then, let’s remember the custodians and the facilities managers that are fighting to keep up with the changing requirements and recommendations every day to keep the buildings occupied by our essential employees safe for them. Truck drivers, farmers, social workers, dispatchers, and so many more. We could not do this life without you!

The word “thankful” doesn’t seem quite enough for how we feel, but it is said with the utmost sincerity! We are so grateful for the hard work, difficult choices, and the tireless commitment that our essential workers are giving each day.
